TweetTunes – Music On Twitter

posted on March 19, 2009

It’s time to reveal my next website. This one is Twitter related, so it should be interesting. More specifically, it covers trends of music on Twitter.

TweetTunes

The website is called TweetTunes. The script is completely custom, minus a few APIs that I used.

TweetTunes is a website that tracks the tweetage of artists on Twitter.

TweetTunes is a website that tracks the tweetage of artists on Twitter.

Basically, the website is a combination of Last.fm, a popular music website, and Twitter, a popular micro-blogging website. It uses the Last.fm API to retrieve information about artists and the Twitter Search API to see what people are saying about the artists. Also, it utilizes the Google API for drawing graphs. These graphs show the trends of the tweetage.

If you use Twitter, it’s pretty cool to check this out. It’s no where near done, I still have a lot of few features planned for it. I’ll talk about those later, though.

Suggestions

I’m writing this post to tell a few people about my new website. More importantly, I’m writing it to recieve suggestions. The website is fairly new, and it needs a lot to become the popular website that I want it to become.

Here’s a few questions to be thinking about:

  1. How is the purpose of the website? Do you find it interesting to see what artists are being talked about on Twitter?
  2. How is the layout of the website? I’m more of a programmer than a designer, but I hope that the design suffices (for now). Is it easy to navigate the website?
  3. Does the website work? This is a fairly simple one. I haven’t done a lot of testing with IE browsers, so I’m not sure how things will work with them.
  4. Are there any problems? I can name a few off of the top of my head, but I want to see what you guys are thinking.
  5. Is it lacking anything? How could it be better? Right now, there’s not much to do here. You can check out artists, search for your favorite artists, maybe look at a few graphs, but that’s about it. What else could I add?

Thanks in advance! It would be great to get some feedback. ;) Please leave your thoughts here or use the Feedback button on the website.
