TweetQA: Twitter Technologies

posted on February 4, 2009

Twitter is an awesome social network that I have become addicted to. With Twitter’s flexible API, a huge part of the ‘fun’ of Twitter has been developed by a third-party. TweetQA is an awesome website that adds to the ‘fun’ of Twitter.

What is Tweet QA?

A lot is going on on Twitter. With only around 200 followers myself, I find it hard to keep up with what users are saying without dedicating my life to Twitter. TweetQA helps you do just this. It’s mostly for people who like to help others. Instead of sifting through hundreds of tweets looking for damsels in distress, you can just open up http://www.tweetqa.com/ and view a list of questions.

Features of Tweet QA

TweetQA is a cool web application for Twitter.

Basically, TweetQA is a web application that searches Twitter for you. It’s a pretty good application. Looking at the home page, all of the questions posed are legit questions from people that need help.

TweetQA is organized very well. It presents the avatar of the tweeter, which link’s to their profile, the tweet containing the question, and a large button called Answer this Question. It’s really easy to use.

Benefits of using Tweet QA

TweetQA provides a clean interface for answering questions posed in tweets across Twitter.

Unlike your personal tweet stream, TweetQA displays tweets from all of Twitter, instead of only the people that you are following. Don’t you think that if you answer someone’s question, they will follow you? Also, wouldn’t they also tell their friends to follow you? Or at least @reply to your answer saying Thank you so much! or a different positive response? This is a huge advantage of Tweet QA: it can help you spread your name.

It’s also great to be helpful. Instead of filling the tweetstream with useless tweets (well, not saying that you are useless, but really random tweets can’t compare to tweets that are helpful, even if only to a single person), fill it with helpful tweets, even if it is only one per day. Every little bit helps!
